MIDDLETOWN, NY – With the weekly racing season wrapping up this coming Saturday, September 7, drivers in all four Orange County Fair Speedway divisions will be out to score as many points as possible, securing their spot in the final points rankings and with it, a share in the track’s lucrative point fund. The Big-Block Modified titlist will cash a check for $40,000, while the companion Small-Block Modified champ will take home $15,000, the Sportsman top dog will net $5,000, and the Street Stock champion will be $2,500 richer.
In total, there’s just shy of $170,000 in bonus money to be paid out to the competitors. The top 35 drivers in both Modified divisions are eligible for a share of the point fund. The top-40 in Sportsman points will earn bonus money, while the top-25 in Street Stock points can count on a point fund check.
Currently, the point leaders in each division are: Big-Block Modified – Brett Hearn; Small-Block Modified – Anthony Perrego; Sportsman – Grant Hilfiger; and Street Stock – Bob Sleight Jr.
All four divisions will see action in qualifying time trials, heats and feature races on Championship Night. In addition, the winner of the 30-lap headline feature race will earn a guaranteed starting spot in the annual Eastern States 200, this year Sunday, October 27.
Championship Night is also Fan Appreciation Night, with exceptional live music, fan giveaways, driver meet and greets at the 31st Lap Tavern, and a $1.00 general admission! It is also Orange County’s annual 9-11 Tribute Night with a special recognition ceremony. Fans will receive a free program upon entrance to the Speedway. The full night of racing begins promptly at 6:00 pm.
