SUSQUEHANNA, PA – Kevin Hartnett collected his third win of the season at Penn Can Speedway, putting on a show as Hartnett led by nearly half the speedway multiple times during the 30 lap feature. The win propelled Hartnett into the point lead with the speedway headed into Championship night and the top 6 separated by less than 100 points.
Brandon Fritsch and Travis Brockner led the way in a hectic opening lap for the Stafursky Paving Modifieds. Hartnett quickly worked his way to the front with Brad Szelewski following past Fritsch on the third lap. Brockner would keep Hartnett at bay until a lap 4 yellow for a Brad Shaffer spin. Hartnett grabbed the lead on the restart but the lap wouldn’t be scored as the caution came out once again.
Hartnett nailed the second restart, carrying a three car length lead down the backstretch while Szelewski and Brockner battled door to door for second. Their 5 lap battle ended with Szelewski grabbing second and Frank Yankowski moving past Brockner for third. Danny Creeden grabbed the fourth spot with 10 laps complete as Hartnett closed in on lapped traffic. Hartnett shredded through traffic, leading by half the track when Dennis Claperton spun in turn 2 with 20 laps on the board. Hartnett made his own area code in the closing laps, opening up a 7 second lead as he collected the checkered flags with Szekewski, Yankowski, Creeden and Darwin Greene Sr completing the top 5.
