Port Royal Speedway Set For First Weekend Doubleheader of 2021

2021 Season Opener - Port Royal Speedway


PORT ROYAL, PA – One week after kicking off the 2021 racing campaign, Port Royal Speedway is set to welcome race fans and competitors to the ‘Speed Palace’ for two nights of racing during their first doubleheader of the 2021 season.

On Saturday, March 20th, it’ll be the Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Cars competing for $4000 to win along with the ULMS Late Models vying for $3000 to win. The Selinsgrove Ford Limited Late Models will also make their first appearance of the season and they will be competing for $1300 to win courtesy of Zachary Knepp.

All gates open at 1 P.M while racing is set to kick off at 4 P.M. Adult admission is $20, while students are $10. Pit admission is $30.

Lance Dewease opened the season with his 116thcareer victory at the Juniata County oval and he did so over Kerry Madsen, Dylan Cisney, Jeff Halligan and defending track champion Logan Wagner. Trevor Feathers picked up the River Valley Builders Super Late Model victory for the second consecutive season on Opening Day and he bested Tyler Bare, Ross Robinson, Colton Flinner and Dan Stone.

This will be the first of four visits in 2021 by the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Models Racing Series. The series has visited the Speedway a total of nine times and past winners with the series were Jason Covert (2), Tyler Bare, Michael Norris, Mason Zeigler, Gregg Satterlee and defending series champion Max Blair (3).

This will also be the first of 13 visits this season for the Limited Late Models. Andrew Yoder enters the season as the back-to-back defending track champion in the division and he will be looking to make it three. However, he’ll have a heavy dose of competitionlooking to take the top spot this season with drivers such as Dillan Stake, Devin Hart, Shawn Shoemaker and Todd Snook expected in attendance.

Can’t make it Saturday? Well, the Speedway will welcome back the ULMS Late Models for a second consecutive evening with a $4000 to win event to go along with the first visit of the season by the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Modifiedsracing for $5000 to win.

For the Modifieds, this will be their first of four visits to the Juniata County oval in 2021. Last Seasons event was cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and was ran as part of the three-day Speed Showcase 200 in October.

Last year’s event brought out the who’s who of drivers and you can again expect a high car count full of the best the series and division have to offer.

Gates open at 11am and racing is set to being at 2pm. Adult General Admission is $25, Students are $15 and pit admission is $35.
