CONCORD, NC – Only three sub 17 second laps were turned in during Super DIRTcar Series time trials on day two of the World Finals.
Ironically, those three sub 17’s were achieved by one group as group three saw Jimmy Phelps turn in a 16.762, eight time series champ Matt Sheppard 16.870 and a surprising Jeremiah Shingledecker 16.993.
Group one hit the track and for the second consecutive day turned in quick time with a 17.210. He was followed by Larry Wight, Ronnie Davis III, Justin Haers, Jack Lehner, Erick Rudolph, Adam Pierson, Rich Scagliotta and Marcus Dinkins.
First night winner Alex Yankowski continued to impress with a 17.027 for the best of group two. He was followed by Peter Britten, Billy Decker, Demetrios Drellos, Mike Gular, Bob McGannon, Max McLaughlin, Billy Pauch Jr., Alex Payne and Chris Curtis.
Following Phelps, Sheppard and Shingledecker in group three were Tim Fuller, Mike Mahaney, Jordan McCreadie, CHris Hile and Mike Trautschold in a very formidable grouping.
Mat Williamson was quickest in the final group with a 17.080 and right behind was Tim McCreadie, Rocky Warner, Tim Sears Jr., Dave Rauscher, Pat Ward, Duane Howard, Olden Dwyer and Jeff Taylor.
