BATAVIA, NY – The second season of a new era at Genesee Speedway ended even stronger than 2016 year and followed that up with a fantastic awards banquet. Over 250 were in attendance at the Quality Inn with more than 50 competitors taking home part of the fun. The key word resonating throughout the night was “Family”, not just about the support the racers get, but how it feels to race at Genesee Speedway. Over $18,000 in cash was distributed in year-end point fund and some very special awards were given out.

Six different drivers claimed track championships including 2016 champions Kyle Inman (Sportsman) and Dave DuBois (360 Late Model). Youngsters Dante Mancuso (Mini Stocks) and Jessica Traxler (Bandits) also took home six-foot trophies winning their respective divisions. JJ Mazur (Crate Late Models) and Byron Dewitt (Street Stocks) not only won their championships, they were also named Drivers of the Year.

At the end of the awards banquet, a special presentation was made to Head Starter Johnny Powell, who was a Mike Logsdon Dedication to Motorsports recipient for his 50 years of service atop the flagstand. The award was a special surprise for both the recipient as well as the namesake.

The evening also included a host of other special awards, as well as a preview of the 2018 season, featuring 21 race dates including three special Thursday races, as well as an October show to close out the season. For more information, visit
