TROIS RIVIERES, QC – For a third time, the Sportsman class was invited to race in the streets of beautiful Trois-Rivières. The Chevrolet Urban Challenge is a 20 laps feature for Sportsman and Modified drivers. Canadian racing legend Ron Fellows, NASCAR Truck winner Raphaël Lessard and NASCAR Xfinity driver Alex Labbé joined the regulars for the event. It was a first for Labbé while Lessard and Fellows were there for the previous 2 editions. After winning the super pole race, Lessard started first and led the field in the first turn right in front of Labbé.
Both drivers are all alone in front with Labbé putting pressure on Lessard. Behind them, Samuel Charland is 3rd in front of Maxime Plante and David Hébert. On a restart, Labbé pass Lessard on the outside in the first corner and takes the lead. While leading, Labbé is penalized for hitting a traffic cone.
With 2 laps to go, there is a yellow flag and Lessard takes the lead again in front of Samuel Charland and Labbé after being put in 3rd after his penalty. Lessard led the remaining laps and win the Urban Challenge in front of Samuel Charland and Alex Labbé. Marc-Antoine Camirand finished 4th after starting near the rear and David Hébert took fifth place.
