Lucas Oil ASCS to Invade Selinsgrove Speedway for First Time

SELINSGROVE, PA – One of the most anticipated sprint car races of the year will take place at Selinsgrove Speedway this Saturday, May 5, when the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by makes its first-ever appearance at the historic half-mile oval.

The event is the second night of the two-race “Battle of the Groves” weekend with Williams Grove Speedway (Friday, May 4) sponsored by Eleven Oaks Farm in Newville. Mach 1 Chassis of Mechanicsburg is a co-sponsor of the Selinsgrove race.

The ASCS National Tour drivers will take on the Selinsgrove regulars and the United Racing Club 360 sprint car drivers May 5 at 7 p.m. in an epic showdown paying $5,000 to win thanks to a $1,000 bonus posted by Mach 1 Chassis. The race will pay $400 to start out of the $22,000-plus purse!

Mach 1 Chassis will also offer a $500 bonus to the top finishing driver competing in a Mach 1 sprint car.

Grandstand and pit gates will open at 4 p.m.

The limited late models and pro stocks will round out the three-division racing card in 20- and 15-lap main events, respectively. The limited late model feature will pay $1,000 to win and the pro stock main will pay $500 to win.

Sammy Swindell of Germantown, Tenn., a former Selinsgrove Speedway National Open winner, is the current ASCS National Tour points leader over defending series champion Sam Hafertepe Jr. of Sunnyvale, Texas.

At Selinsgrove this season, defending 360 sprint car champion Davie Franek of Wantage, N.J., scored the opening day win April 7 and Jason Shultz of Carlisle won the April 28 race.
