Summer Sprint Series set for Tri City

FRANKLIN, PA — After battling the elements for most of the spring, Tri-City Raceway Park is hoping for an uninterrupted stretch of summer when the 410 Winged Sprint Cars can shine. For the three remaining events on the Tri-City calendar, Sprint Cars will be the common theme, with some built in incentive for competitors to race in all three events.

Starting with the June 17th “Father’s Day Shootout,” the winged warriors will be a part of a racing card that includes the RUSH Late Model Touring Series and the RUSH Wingless Sprints in their first appearance at the Franklin, Pennsylvania oval. The July 15th “Summer Sizzler” will see the 410’s racing along with the RUSH Wingless Sprints and Sportsman Modifieds as well as the Penn Ohio Pro-Stocks. Then the season closes out with the “End of Summer Showdown” on August 19th. The RUSH Late Model Series Manufacturers Night will top the program along with Emods, Vintage Modifieds and again the 410 Sprints.

The three races for the Donovan & Bauer Auto Group 410 Sprint Cars will make up the “Summer Sprint Series” at Tri City. A $1500 point fund will be established to reward for driver’s finishing in the top five positions in any of the three races. Also, bonus money will go to drivers who can win multiple races.

Tri City General Manager Chad Wagner explains it this way: “There is a point fund for the top five Sprint Cars. After those three races, there will be points based on that. There is going to be a $1500 point fund which will be divided between those five drivers.” To top off an already attractive point fund, Wagner goes on to describe the importance of pulling off multiple wins in the series. “If any one of these guys can win two of the three races, they get a $1000 bonus.”

The unique bonus fund is sponsored by Born 2 Run Lubricants, a division of Hovis Auto and Truck Supply.

For all events pit gates open at 3 PM with grandstand gates opening at 4 PM. Racing action gets underway at 6 PM.

Price structure throughout the season will be $15 for General Admission, Students 13-17 just $5. Kids 12 and under are always free! Pit Admission is $35, and a Family Pass (2 adults and up to 4 students) just $40.
