PORT ROYAL, PA – Open Wheel Madness III for the season is on tap this Saturday, October 20 at 4 pm when the track hosts a World of Outlaws Tune Up event for the 410 sprints, along with the final point show of the season for the Creasy Signs 305 sprints and a special for the URC Sprints paying $2,000 to win.
Gates for the late season special will open at 1 pm with action slated for 4 pm.
The 410 sprints will race in preparation for next weekend’s two-day World of Outlaws invasion including the October 27 51st annual Tuscarora 50 paying $51,000 to win.
The super sprint cars will compete in time trials, heats, dashes and a 27-lap main paying $4,000 to win with double file restarts used throughout the night.
The feature will be 27 laps in tribute to and honor of the late Greg Hodnett.
The 305 sprint cars will be racing in their final show of the season at the track while also establishing just who will win the 2018 track title for the division.
After seven races to date this year, Massachusetts’s driver Kyle Smith leads the oval standings by just five points over Zach Newlin of Millerstown.
Newlin recently won the overall PASS title for the 305s.
The URC Sprints will likely bring a strong contingent of 360-powered sprint cars to compete for the $2,000 top prize.
With just three point races remaining in the 2018 URC season including this week’s Port Royal show, Josh Weller of Mertztown is the current point leader over Curt Michael.
Port Royal Speedway’s season will climax next week, October 26 and 27 when the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series invades for a two-day stand.
Friday’s program features the outlaws in the Nittany Showdown paying $8,000 to win while Saturday will feature the 51st annual Tuscarora 50 paying $51,000 to win out of a total purse worth more than $107,000.
