After Seven Years Knox Raceway Returns to Action

KNOX, PA-Knox Raceway (formerly Sportsman’s Speedway) is getting ready to host their first circle track event at the speedway in seven years. Under the ownership of Brian and Brianna Steinman the have already held a Demo Derby and Truck and Tractor Pull and are now ready to see the race cars on the track for the first of five racing events through September starting on Friday, June 17.

A lot of work has gone into getting the track back into shape including new clay, new lighting, newly designed pit area, upgraded concession facilities along with new bleacher boards, painting, cement work along with many other updates.

The first circle track event will take place on Friday night, June 17 which will be the Francis Sesco Memorial Event and will feature the RUSH Wingless Sprints, Mini Stocks, along with an Aquaholic Powder Puff Series which will be a 10-lap Mini Stock event for the women of the area. At the end of the racing there will be a 75-lap Enduro and at this time there are over 30 cars registered for this event. Pit gates will open at 4 pm with Grandstand gates at 5pm. Racing will start at 7 pm.

Then on July 2 the 1st  Sid Unverzagt, Sr. Memorial Race will be held featuring the BRP
Modified Tour. This event will pay $2,500 to win and there is approximately an extra $1,600 in lap money that has been collected in Sid’s memory to be handed out. There will also be a 358 Modified Dash that will pay $1,000 to the winner of this event. Along with the BRP Modified Tour the RUSH Wingless Sprint Cars will be on hand along with the RUSH Sportsman Modified division. Racing will start at 7pm for this event.

Knox Raceway will be back in action on Sunday, July 24  with the Big Mav Classic for the Allegheny 305 Sprint Tour. Along with this Memorial event will be the RUSH Sprint Cars, 270cc Micro Sprints and the Jr. Sprints. Then on August 21 and September 11 th the 410 Sprint Cars will make two appearances for the season along with the RUSH Sprints and the Penn Ohio Pro Stocks. The JR Sprints will also be added to the August 21 event. Racing will start at 6pm for these events. Just added to the schedule on October 1  will be
another Demolition Derby. There will be more details coming soon about this event.

If you are a driver, team or fan of the speedway and would like to have a place to stay overnight, the track is working with Motel 6, Clarion, PA to provide rooms at a discounted price of $60. When placing your reservation, please mention Brian Steinman to get the discount. Also, there is primitive (dry) camping on the speedway grounds. If you are a team that is traveling and need to work on your car, please let Brian know and
he can fix you up with a facility close by to do this. Knox Raceway owned by Brian and Brianna Steinman was purchased late in 2021 and has opened for the season in 2022 to provide entertainment for the local community by hosting Demolition Derbies, Truck and
Tractor Pulls, Circle Track Racing and in the future Rodeos, Concerts, and many other fun events.
