NORTH AUGUSTA, ONT – The Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour vintage series returns to action this coming weekend with a Central NY double header.
First up on the docket is a return trip to the Paradise Speedway in Geneva, NY. In addition to the scheduled races anyone with a vintage car is welcomed to bring it to display behind the grandstands of the 1/3 mile oval. The Speedway is graciously allowing track time for parade laps and hot laps for those not wishing to compete in the evenings racing events. Racing starts at 6:15 PM.
On Sunday the series heads to the Utica Rome Speedway for it’s first ever visit to the ½ mile facility for it’s “Night Of Legends” Jan Corcoran Memorial show. Racing will start at 7 PM.
With series announcer Jay Severson unable to attend due to commitments at Fonda and Glen Ridge, the DMNT will be bringing in Jim Olin as it’s guest announcer for the Utica Rome show on Sunday. Jim is familiar with many of the drivers having seen them and called the action up at the Can Am Speedway in years past.
This weekend should see Phil Claussen finally turn some laps with the DMNT with his Nostalgia class car. Also expecting newcomer Ed Lawrence to make an appearance. Tim Hegarty, Jeff Mitchell, Brad Litzenberger and Matt Larrivee will also be in competition.
The Modified division will see some of the best in the business with Jon Kuleszo, Nathan Berry, Bob Johnson and John Stanley ready to do battle. Rookie Evan Reynolds continues to improve with each race and we will get our first look at the 1991 Mr. DIRT Sportsman Champion and current Land Of Legends Race Director Greg Hixson as he hops behind the wheel of the Paul Cole owner #18LOLR entry on Sunday at Utica Rome.
The DMNT’s “Girl Power” trio will all be at Paradise, Michele Kuleszo, Wendy Goodman and Megan Ciglich will get another crack at an all female heat race.
Chip Gauthier, Matt Barbour, Jim Mitchell, Doug Matthewson, Richard Applebee and Kenny Polite are unable to confirm as of the writing and will be day to day decisions.
The 2018 Edition of the DMNT is brought to you by: CARtoons Magazine, Mohawk Valley Community College Airframe and Powerplant Technology and Shaw Insurance.
